forward is in advanced talks over a season-long loan move to Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
The 20-year-old only arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, completing a move from Norwegian side Molde and signing a six-year contract.
However, he made just four first team appearances from January until the end of last season and is yet to score his first goal for the club.
Chelsea are reportedly still looking for a new striker during the transfer window, but they are prepared to let Fofana move on, at least on a temporary basis.
report that a deal with Union Berlin is close to being agreed, taking Fofana to the German capital for a season, but it is unlikely to have an option to buy in the deal as Chelsea just want to give him first team experience before bringing him back to the club.
The Ivory Coast international caught the eye of Chelsea thanks to his performances in Norway with Molde, scoring 22 goals in the 2022 season.
He was integral as Molde won the Eliteserien and Norwegian Cup last year before securing the big Premier League move.
There is plenty of competition up front for Chelsea, with new signings Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling, Armando Broja and Noni Madueke in Mauricio Pochettino’s options.
