Thiago Silva liked an Instagram post which slammed Saint-Germain’s decision to offload , Neymar and Marco Verratti following their defeat to in the on Wednesday evening.

PSG were hammered at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe’s side sealed a 4-1 victory with goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar.

The defeat still leaves PSG second in Group F after they beat Borussia Dortmund in their opening game last month.

But the manner of the loss raises further questions over PSG’s ability to win the Champions League.

And Thiago Silva appears to also have concerns over PSG’s direction as he liked an Instagram post which criticised the French club’s overhaul in the summer.

The post was an image of Messi, Neymar and Verratti with the caption which read: ‘You have to eat s*** to give up this trio. You have to be stupid or sold out.

‘These 3 can play until they are 50! Those who need strength.. don’t compare a truck full of watermelon with a Lamborghini.’

Speaking after the game, PSG head coach Luis Enrique described the result as ‘unfair’.

‘I sincerely think the result is a bit unfair, but not totally. Congratulations to Newcastle, they played very good football. But the scoreline is excessive,’ Luis Enrique said.

‘I thought my player’s attitude was good throughout the game. I think the outcome of the game was fair even though the scoreline was perhaps too much in the favour of Newcastle.

‘My players struggled with the pressing game but did everything I asked them to except in the final third of the pitch. We made some careless mistakes that lead to their goals.

‘It was a good game, Newcastle were the better team and deserved to win but I don’t think the scoreline reflected the differences between the teams.

‘The result is so big for them. But I think we didn’t deserve that result.’

Meanwhile, PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte claims his teammates struggled with the lively atmosphere at St James’ Park.

‘The atmosphere had an influence on the match. Newcastle are strong at home,’ Ugarte said.

‘It was not our best game. We could have done more. The score remains harsh. We could have been more aggressive, we could have shown a better state of mind, but the atmosphere will have been favourable to them.

‘I think they were a little more aggressive because they were back at home in the Champions League and that’s not usual for them. It’s not a criticism.

‘The truth is that the atmosphere helped them. I think we could have done more in terms of attitude and on an individual level, but these are matches that happen sometimes.’
