Christian Pulisic open to Lyon move with Chelsea star eager to leave Stamford Bridge

Lyon are leading the race to sign star Christian Pulisic this summer with the American star eager to find a new challenge away from Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues in a £58million move from in 2019 but has struggled for minutes in recent seasons.

With Chelsea set on trimming their bloated squad this summer, Pulisic is among the clutch of players tipped to move on with Lyon making him a ‘priority signing’ and have approached the player about moving to , L’Equipe report.

Lyon’s American owners have contacted Pulisic and believe they can secure his services for a bargain fee of €20million (£17.2m).

Lyon’s controlling shareholder Eagle Football Holdings led by John Textor is leading those efforts with Pulisic open to the move.

while it is thought he could seek to find another Premier League side. Eagle Football Holdings also have a controlling stake in Crystal Palace with a move to Selhurst Park another option being explored.

Pulisic’s representatives have also been offered the forward to both Manchester United and Newcastle United. Both sides however are thought to be prioritising other targets.

Pulisic scored 11 goals in his first season at Chelsea but his contributions have gradually fallen away since then, starting just eight league games last term.

‘It’s absolutely a time where I need to figure out what’s going to be best for my future and be somewhere where I can go and play and be trusted and feel good in what I’m doing,’

‘I want to find that joy at club level again, for sure.’

Chelsea have been eager to trim their bloated squad this summer with Pulisic one of a number of high-profile departures.

N’Golo Kante has left the club following the end of his contract to Saudi side Al Ittihad while the Blues have agreed a £30million deal with Manchester City for Mateo Kovacic to join the treble winners. Kai Havertz meanwhile is poised to join Arsenal in a £65m deal.

Chelsea are also set to considerably fill their coffers with Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Kouliably and Hakim Ziyech close to joining Saudi Pro League clubs.
