Quizzed on his reaction to Maresca’s arrival following , Gallagher told Sky Sports: ‘Really exciting.
‘I’ve heard really good things and I’ve seen really good things.
‘Myself and everyone at Chelsea are really happy and excited to work with him.’
Gallagher, who wore the captain’s armband in Reece James’ absence last season, hopes Maresca can guide the club back to where they ‘belong’ next season.
Asked whether the appointment represents a fresh start for Chelsea, Gallagher replied: ‘Yeah, exactly.
‘We want to get Chelsea back to where they belong.
‘So hopefully with the new manager we can start to progress and get to where we belong.’
