has denied making a ‘I’m not finished’ remark into broadcast cameras following ’s win against Brentford on Monday.

The 37-year-old put in one of his best performances of the season as United beat the Bees in their final home game of the campaign.

United did a lap of honour after the victory, despite the lack of cheer at the Theatre of Dreams after a dreary season. Ronaldo applauded all four corners of the stadium and as he made his way past the Stretford End, reports claimed he said ‘I’m not finished’ into one of the on-pitch cameras.

There’s been much speculation about Ronaldo’s future at the club, given he doesn’t seem an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s high-pressing style of play.

Ronaldo has another year to run on his contract at Old Trafford and the Red Devils have the option of extending that by a further 12 months.

He remains determined to stay at United and the remarks were seen as evidence of that.

However, Ronaldo has denied making the comments on Instagram.

Replying to a fan account that carried the supposed remark, Ronaldo commented: ‘I didn’t say that’.

It remains to be seen if Ten Hag sees a future for Ronaldo at Old Trafford but the Dutchman has a plethora of other problems to resolve first.

United need a centre-back, two central midfielders and at least one striker this summer.

Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are all set to leave on free transfers.
