Danny Mills believes should sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer in order to boost the club’s summer transfer kitty.

Wan-Bissaka, 24, was signed by United in 2019 for £50 million but has disappointed at right-back with his attacking shortcomings heavily criticised.

The Red Devils are set to miss out on the and incoming manager Erik ten Hag will reportedly have just a £50 million budget with which to overhaul the squad with.

Mills, the former defender, thinks Wan-Bissaka is not good enough for United and says Ten Hag should look to cash-in on the defender with the Dutchman looking to raise funds for transfers.

Speaking to , he said: ‘You could probably pull in another £20 million with Wan-Bissaka. If you add that to the transfer kitty that’s up to £70 million which could probably be stretched to £120 million realistically.

‘You look at it, people thought he was going to be England’s next right-back for some considerable time and going to be a great defender.

‘But I think we’ve seen he’s not at that level where he’s going to go on and win a Premier League and make a difference in the Champions League. Maybe Man United was just a little bit too much for him.’

Since he was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer three years ago from Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka’s career at Old Trafford has gradually fallen by the wayside.

A strong first season saw him make 35 Premier League appearances as he was part of a defence which conceded just three goals more than champions Liverpool.

However, a drop-off in performance has resulted in the Englishman losing his starting place to Diogo Dalot this term and he has made only 20 league appearances.

A plethora of options at right-back for England means he is yet to make his Three Lions debut and has not been called up by Gareth Southgate since 2019.
