Darren Bent has warned not to sign for and has urged the striker to move to instead.

Calvert-Lewin has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Everton reportedly willing to sell their star man in the summer to offset their financial woes.

The Toffees have reported losses of almost £373 million over the last three years and with Frank Lampard’s side hurtling towards the relegation zone, as well as a new stadium build underway, the club are now looking to sell their most valuable assets, such as Calvert-Lewin and fellow forward Richarlison, in order to balance the books.

25-year-old Calvert-Lewin has endured an extremely difficult season with injuries limiting him to just 10 Premier League games but the England international’s stock is still very high having netted 21 goals in 39 appearances last season.

As a result, there are many clubs interested in his services, with Arsenal especially keen after losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both out of contract in the summer.

But former Premier League striker Bent believes that Calvert-Lewin should be looking to sign for a different London club, telling talkSPORT: ‘I think for Calvert-Lewin, West Ham. They need another centre forward; they cross the ball.’

The Irons are also in the market for a new striker with their only real option up top being 32-year-old Michail Antonio, after David Moyes’ side failed to buy a back-up in January after a late move for Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, who has also been linked with Arsenal, collapsed.

Bent, who had a prolific career playing for clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Aston Villa, also said that the Toffees needed to lower their expectations when it came to their asking price for Calvert-Lewin, adding: ‘If Everton ask for £60 million no one’s buying him for that. [He’s worth] £35-40 million.’
