David de Gea sends top-four warning to Tottenham and Arsenal after Manchester United beat Norwich City

’s goalkeeper David de Gea has promised that the club will ‘fight until the last second’ in their quest to qualify for next season’s .

The Spanish shot-stopper was speaking to after United’s 3-2 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

A double put the Red Devils in control at Old Trafford, but goals from Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki levelled things up for the Canaries.

With 14 minutes left to play, Ronaldo completed his hat-trick to ensure the three points and avoid an embarrassing result against bottom of the league Norwich.

The result moves United up to fifth in the table and just three points off the top four, and with both Tottenham and Arsenal losing on Saturday – to Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton respectively – their chances of making next season’s Champions League have been handed a massive boost.

De Gea said: ‘Ronaldo has scored three very important goals for us. We know we aren’t playing very well but we got three points. We should control the game more against Norwich at home.

‘We know we are not at our best moment. The most important thing is the victory and we are closer to the top four.

‘A massive win for us. We still have a chance to finish top four and we have to fight for it. We will fight for the top four until the last second.’

With just six games left, United have put themselves in a good position to the finish the season strongly, but they will have to be at their very best as upcoming fixtures include visits to Liverpool and Arsenal as well as a home game against Chelsea.

‘The spirit is there. Everyone is dropping points ups and down so we have a chance,’ added De Gea.

‘It’s not enough to be in the top four. We should control the game from the beginning and not give them chances. We give chances to every team so we have to improve a lot.

‘We take the three points and let’s see on Tuesday [away to Liverpool]. I hope this victory gives us more confidence. We want to go there and try and win.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo is a top player, he always tries to score goals and tries to be there for the team.’
