Didi Hamann has made his prediction for the second leg of the semi-final between and .
The first leg at the Bernabeu ended in a 1-1 draw with goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Vinicius Junior.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side face a trip to the Etihad next week to determine who will advance to this year’s final.
City are looking for revenge having crashed out of the semi-finals to Real Madid in last season’s tournament.
The Manchester club have never won the Champions League, which Pep Guardiola was tasked with delivering when he arrived in 2016.
‘City are very strong at home so it’ll be tough for Madrid to go there and win,’ Hamann told when quizzed about the second leg. ‘Not too many teams have done that in the last couple of seasons.
‘But then again, this Madrid team is very good and you see the bench. They’ve got Nacho, they’ve got Tchouameni who hasn’t really been fully on fire after the World Cup but he’s a brilliant player.
‘So they’ve got players who can make a difference. City need the points from their league game this weekend whereas for Madrid their race is done in the league.
‘I wouldn’t rule them out but I’d make City favourites with that result – but you can’t rule Real Madrid out.’
Real Madrid went on to win the Champions League last season after dumping City out in the last four, beating Liverpool in the final.
