Anthony Martial should stay at Manchester United because he can produce his best football with the ‘full trust’ of .

That’s according to former Red Dimitar Berbatov, who believes that an injury-free Martial is a huge asset for United.

Martial has missed a large chunk of the season with a variety of different injury issues, which has meant the side’s goalscoring burden has fallen on .

But with Rashford injured, Martial has made an emphatic return to the team this month and he’s started in each of the last two matches.

Neverthless, with United keen on signing a top centre forward this summer, there are reports that Martial is set to be sold in order to raise funds.

However, Berbatov says Ten Hag should be kept at the club as he still has plenty to offer.

‘I would like to see him stay. I played with Anthony at Monaco and I know that he has the ability to be better than he’s showing,’ Berbatov told .

‘The only thing he needs to do is stay injury free and he needs to know that the manager trusts him.

‘He needs to know that he can make the odd mistake during the game without the possibility of being substituted or being left out the next game. He needs the full trust of a manager and then he can play to his maximum capability.

‘I’m pleased with what I’ve seen of him since his return from injury and I’d like to see him stay at .’

Rashford has an outside chance of being fit for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg clash against Sevilla.

United gave away a two-goal lead against the Spaniards at Old Trafford last Thursday, meaning they must win in Spain to progress.

Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Marcel Sabitzer could also return but Bruno Fernandes is suspended.
