Ronaldo is determined to leave Old Trafford this summer following the club’s failure to qualify for this season’s with his agent Jorge Mendes offering him to a number of clubs across Europe.

, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all thought to have turned down the chance to sign the 37-year-old with Atletico Madrid not currently in a position to fund a move.

The striker did not travel with the club for their tour of Asia and Australia and has not returned for pre-season training due to ‘family reasons’.

Erik ten Hag is still counting on Ronaldo ahead of his first season in charge with Dalot also hopeful his countryman remains in Manchester. ‘

‘I think Cristiano is important for us,’ Dalot said. ‘What we know is he is going through some family issues, we hope everything is OK and that’s how we do.’

United ended their pre-season tour undefeated with wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace and a draw with Aston Villa.

After throwing away a two-goal lead against Steven Gerrard’s side on Saturday, Dalot suggested ten Hag had stern words with the squad but insists the group must learn to deal with the demands he is placing on the side.

‘It’s discipline,’ said Dalot. ‘We need to be ready for that, to be ready to hear things that maybe we don’t want to hear.

‘But I think everything is for the greater good of the team and that’s the most important thing.

‘I feel that we start from scratch, new manager, new stuff, new energy, new players coming in and we’re looking forward to play with them as well.

‘We need to build a team, a staff, a club, everyone together and go forward. It’s tough, but we need to adjust quickly. We need to be ready for any kind of challenge.’

Dalot has impressed during pre-season for United and is expected to start the season as ten Hag’s first choice right-back.
