has confirmed remains an injury doubt ahead of Sunday’s game against .
which played a part in Gareth Southage’s decision to omit him from his latest Three Lions squad.
Wilson has missed the last three games, including Wednesday night’s landmark 4-1 thrashing of PSG in the Champions League, and he will be assessed again before Sunday’s match.
Centre-half Sven Botman will, however, miss out again as will the suspended Anthony Gordon and long-term absentee Harvey Barnes.
‘The list doesn’t look great but apart from Harvey [Barnes] I don’t think there is anything long-term,’ said Howe at his pre-match press conference. ‘Maybe some short-term pain.
‘We’ll wait and see how Callum [Wilson] and Joelinton are, they are closest. We’ve got Anthony [Gordon] suspended, another blow for us. Sven [Botman] won’t make it.
‘We’ve had injuries and players have taken opportunities. That is what I’m after. Everyone has a huge part to play. We’ve got some very good players on the pitch.’
Asked how his squad had reacted to dismantling the French champions in front a packed St James’ park crowd, Howe added: ‘They didn’t say a lot. They are vocal with criticism but when things go well they are more subdued.
‘I missed them in the morning, but I saw them in the afternoon. There was a little comment and then they wanted to play themselves and recreate some of the moments from the game.
‘They are brilliant for me because they have a way of bringing me back to reality. Spending time with your kids is the best thing.’
