says will have to be at their very best to ‘get something’ from their game against at the Emirates on Saturday.
Newcastle produced a 1-0 victory over the Gunners when the sides met at St James’ Park in November, .
That’s because Arsenal boss was left furious over Anthony Gordon’s winning goal, .
The goal was ultimately allowed to stand about English refereeing.
Howe, meanwhile, and speaking ahead of the sides meeting again this weekend, the Newcastle boss said: ‘We have had some good games against Arsenal. We will need to replicate close to our best performance to get something from the game.
‘Last season was a battling performance from us at the Emirates. Arsenal this season have been very good in every aspect of the game. It will be a challenge for us. The last game [in November] made headlines, that’s the best way of putting it for what happened with the goal and everything that happened afterwards.
‘I don’t know if we look at it that way. We just look at it like another opponent to try and beat. We analyse them forensically to find the best way to get a result. I’m sure for Arsenal it’s exactly the same. Mikel is a very passionate guy, he will defend his team. I am the same, I will defend my team.’
Howe also provided a positive injury update on star striker Alexander Isak as well as former Arsenal star Joe Willock ahead of the clash in north London.
‘They have trained this week; it has been good to see them back on the grass,’ Howe added. ‘It has been a long time for Joe, he is a huge player for us.
‘We are pleased for him to be back amongst the group, he is a very popular member of the squad. Alex is an important player for us too, we have one more training session today – we won’t take any risks – but we are pleased with their progress.’
