An emotional described Real Madrid’s final win over as the ‘best night of his life’.
Bellingham became a Champions League winner at the age of 20 after .
Borussia Dortmund created the better chances but Real Madrid showed why they are the undisputed kings of Europe, clinching a record-extending 15th Champions League title.
The victory capped off an incredible debut season for Bellingham at Madrid – the Birmingham-born England star scored 23 goals in all competitions and also lifted the La Liga trophy.
Asked how it felt to win Europe’s top club competition, an emotional Bellingham paused, put his head in his hands and then said: ‘I have always dreamed of playing in these games.
‘You go through life and there are so many people who say you cannot do things. Days like today remind you why you do it. It’s hard at times and you wonder whether it’s worth it but nights like tonight make you realise.
‘I was alright until I was in my mum and dad’s face. They were the ones doing trips at night and on weekends to take me to games.
‘My little brother is there as well and I’m trying to be a role model for him. I cannot put it into words. It’s the best night of my life.’
Madrid, who knocked out holders Manchester City in the quarter-finals, had to withstand plenty of Dortmund pressure, with the Germans going close through Niclas Fullkrug and Karim Adeyemi.
There was a sense at half-time that the missed chances would come back to haunt Borussia Dortmund and that proved to be the case as late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior saw Real Madrid crowned European champions once more.
‘Madrid are the mentality monsters,’ ex-Premier League striker Chris Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live. ‘They were hardly in it in the first half, hung on in the second until Dani Carvajal’s header from the corner.
‘From that moment on they were in control. Vinicius Jr added the second goal and then they just saw the game out.
‘It is about finding a way to win. So much belief and confidence within this squad. They have done it before and they keep doing it. Another triumphant evening.’
