defender has held showdown talks with chairman Daniel Levy over his future at the club.
The defender has been frozen out by following the Australian’s appointment in north London.
Dier hasn’t been named in the squad for Spurs’ first five matches of the season, in either the Premier League or the Carabao Cup.
The 29-year-old has a year left on his deal at the club but he rejected a loan move to Burnley in August.
But, with Davinson Sanchez leaving the club, Postcoglou has been left short of back-up in defence.
It has thrown Dier a lifeline and though the transfer markets in Turkey and Saudi Arabia remain open, the defender is keen on remaining in London.
That’s led to Dier holding crunch talks with Levy over his future, to determine where he stands at the club.
Hugo Lloris, who has failed to secure a move away from the club this summer, held talks with Levy in August to understand his position.
As Postecoglou is the head coach, it’s not uncommon for Levy to handle the futures of the playing squad.
