is in a ‘very good vibe’ but he must prove on the pitch that he can make a ‘huge contribution’ to ’s season.

That’s according to , who says the winger is in a far better place this .

The former Dortmund ace was given three months out of the side last season, as he struggled with his mental and physical health.

Ten Hag was widely praised for the decision to be patient with Sancho but the decision didn’t bear fruit in the playmaker’s performances in the second half of the campaign.

There’s hope now, with a full pre-season and a new campaign ahead, that Sancho can turn his United career around.

And Ten Hag says he’s seen a new Sancho with ‘a lot of energy’ since the squad met up for pre-season.

‘In this moment, he has a very good vibe,’ said Ten Hag.

‘He decides how he is and how his mood and vibe is. He has a lot of energy, we have all seen that from the moment he came back. He wants to enjoy football and be successful.

‘He has to show consistently that he can make a huge contribution. When you’re a front player, that end product is the key

‘So make sure you’re making the key actions, the final pass and get your goals in, because that’s why he’s here. The rest has to be good as well.

‘That’s your foundation and then you meet all the other standards that we expect from a player on a high level, every third or fourth day.’

In a separate question about Sancho, Ten Hag challenged him to contribute more often.

‘He has to show consistently that he can make a huge contribution,’ said Ten Hag.

‘When you are a front player that end product is the key. So make sure you are making the key actions, the final pass and get your goals in, because that’s why he is here.

‘The rest has to be good as well. That is your foundation and then you meet all the other standards that we expect from a player – on a high level every third or fourth day.’
