boss has suggested he will focus on strengthening his squad’s depth in a number of key positions this summer.
The Red Devils have impressed during the Dutchman’s debut campaign at Old Trafford by lifting the Carabao Cup and progressing to the final.
United are on course to finish in the top four, which will boost the club’s finances and make it easier to attract players.
But, after spending £220m last summer, United are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope.
Ten Hag signed players for the first-team in the form of Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Christian Eriksen.
But United’s downfall this season has been the lack of depth in the squad, which cost them a brief flirtation with a title challenge in January following Casemiro’s suspension.
And Ten Hag has suggested he will focus on boosting his squad’s depth this summer.
‘I think we need to strengthen the team and more positions, said Ten Hag
‘Also the depth in the squad. But don’t think about that in this moment. It’s not about that.
‘So far, we have had a great season so keep going, keep improving, keep progressing and the team is doing so well and I think it is enjoyable to be part of this team. We have to keep it going.
‘We have good players, a great team, a great year but it is only success if we keep going.’
United are expected to sign a centre forward as that’s considered a ‘key position’ that needs vast improvement.
The club have been heavily linked with a move for England captain Harry Kane.
United will come up against Kane when they travel to Tottenham tonight and Ten Hag admits he admires the 29-year-old.
‘I am preparing my team for a game against ,’ said Ten Hag.
‘He is one of the players that we have to face from Spurs, so I don’t think about anything else.
‘The number of goals, and also his key actions [that] come to a goal, final passes as well, he is just a great player, great personality as well.’
