says injuries have prevented from finding his feet at after his disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.

Mount became United’s first signing of the transfer window as

The England international was given the famed no7 shirt in a mark of ten Hag’s faith in the midfielder. But Mount has struggled to rediscover his form in Manchester, failing to impose himself on United’s attack and registering one assist and zero goals in 12 appearances.

The 24-year-old missed five games in September through injury but started just one of United’s next six league games following his return to fitness.

He was expected to be part of the United squad in action against Everton on Sunday

Discussing the midfielder, ten Hag admitted injuries have been the main problem affecting Mount’s start to the season with the disruption around him the team also playing a major factor.

‘You can look for reasons behind [that],’ ten Hag said on Friday.

‘There are reasons when you pick up injuries. The back four is not working, we have to make a lot of subs in the back four that have an affect on the balance of the midfield.

‘The front players we have to make a lot of changes, so then the routines are not there. Still, I think he has had his moments where he did very well. But I think that stopped in the moment he got injured.’

‘He is a top professional. he is working very hard in training.’

United remain without Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Johnny Evans, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen with Rasmus Hojlund a doubt for Sunday’s clash with Everton after suffering a hamstring injury against Luton before the international break.

Luke Shaw however is available once again having been ruled out since the second game of the season in August.

Discussing the England international on Friday, ten Hag said: ‘Luke Shaw will be available for Sunday, he will be in the squad.

‘You can mention many things. You can mention his physicality, his technical ability, and his leadership, it’s clear. For a long time in the season, we didn’t have a left-back. We are very happy he’s back, it’s a good sign. He will help us be more stable, I am sure of that.’
