Erik ten Hag has already identified Hannibal Mejbri, Alejandro Garnacho and James Garner as three youngsters to include in his first-team squad next season, according to reports.

United have now confirmed that Ten Hag will replace as their new manager at the end of the season on an initial three-year contract.

The head coach will be tasked with overseeing a drastic improvement following a woeful season which could see United miss out on football next term.

According to , United have already told Ten Hag that he will not receive a ‘lavish budget’ but instead will be given ‘adequate funds’ with which he can sign improvements.

The report claims that Ten Hag has split the United squad he will inherit into four groups – those are the top of their careers such as Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes and David De Gea, those who are close to reaching that, including Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay, those who are still rising up such as Jadon Sancho and then the academy players he believes have a ‘bright future’, including Mejbri, Garnacho and Garner.

Garnacho is yet to make his first-team debut for United but has been included in their last two Premier League squad.

Garner, meanwhile, has impressed during his loan spell with Nottingham Forest this season and will be assessed during United’s pre-season campaign.

The report also claims that Ten Hag’s appointment has received a ‘mixed reception’ from United’s players, with some ‘underwhelmed’ by the decision to bring the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

‘It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead,’ said Ten Hag after confirmation of his move.

‘I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.

‘It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United.’
