picked Bruno Fernandes out as ‘maybe the best player on the pitch’ as beat on Saturday, although he had a lot of praise for Scott McTominay as well.
It was a pretty comfortable afternoon for the Red Devils as they beat the Toffees 2-0 at Old Trafford thanks to goals from McTominay and substitute Anthony Martial.
It could have been much more for the home team, with playing brilliantly in goal for Everton and Antony notably missing a number of chances.
It was Fernandes pulling the strings in midfield and Ten Hag was very impressed with the Portuguese star who has been playing deeper than usual in recent games.
‘I think he was brilliant but he was already playing brilliant over many in a deeper role,’ said the Dutch boss.
‘Not everyone was recognising but also even last week at Newcastle he was playing very well.
‘Against Brentford played really well, today again, but I said he was definitely one of the best players, maybe the best player on the pitch, but we had more at a high level.’
McTominay was also impressive, coming into the team since Casemiro’s suspension and having been in good goal-scoring form for Scotland over the international break.
‘He’s a great player, great personality, so happy I have him in my squad,’ said Ten Hag. ‘Always has energy, never gives up, he’s great.’
