boss is targeting up to three new arrivals before the transfer window closes.

The Red Devils have spent £170m so far this summer and recouped around £40m through player sales.

Once Dean Henderson joins in a £20m deal, that will free up some space for the Dutchman to re-enter the market as United are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope.

Injury to Luke Shaw has led Ten Hag to search for a new left-back and the club have shortlisted the likes of Sergio Reguillon, Marc Cucrella and Rico Henry.

A move for a goalkeeper is far more advanced and the club expect to complete a deal for Fenerbahce ace Altay Bayındır in the next 48 hours.

The 25-year-old has already had a medical at the club and will arrive as back-up for Andre Onana.

The third area that Ten Hag is targeting is a central midfielder.

Mason Mount is out for a month, while Kobbie Mainoo is not expected to return until October.

Casemiro has looked isolated in midfield during United’s first three matches and there are question marks over the Brazilian’s ability to anchor the midfield on his own.

Ten Hag would like to sign another combative midfielder, though the club have played down talk of a move for Sofyan Amrabat.

Ryan Gravenberch, the Bayern Munich midfielder, is keen on leaving the club and United have registered their interest.

The Dutchman worked under Ten Hag at Ajax before joining Bayern in 2022.
