boss has sanctioned the sale of four first-team players this summer after the club held talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong.

The 22-year-old right-back is a priority for Ten Hag, who wants to add more attacking quality to his defence.

Frimpong, a product of ’s academy, joined Leverkusen from Celtic two years ago and he’s established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in Europe.

Ten Hag spent £220m last summer and he’s keen to sign a top-level centre forward this summer.

But United are walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope and the club must sell off some assets if Ten Hag’s to recruit the players he wants.

According to the United will therefore offload Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams and Alex Telles to raise funds.

While the exits of Telles, Williams and Bailly are somewhat expected, Maguire’s departure would be the most controversial.

The England ace joined United from Leicester for a fee of £80m in 2019 and was installed as captain just six months later.

However, he’s lost his place this season to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

Though Ten Hag likes Maguire, tough decisions must be made and he feels he has enough cover in central defence, while Frimpong’s arrival would further enhance the way the Dutchman wants to play.
