boss Erik ten Hag is keen to sign a younger midfielder this summer with the club finalising a list of players who will be moved on at the end of the season.
After spending over £200million in the Dutchman’s first summer in charge, United have been limited to loan arrivals in January with Jack Butland and arriving to bolster the squad.
A new striker is top of the manager’s priorities with , Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos among the options being considered at Old Trafford.
The report ten Hag is also keen to bring in another midfield option.
Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have both been integral to the manager’s plans since their arrivals last summer but with both players set to turn 31 next month, the manager is eager to add a younger option to his squad.
United are still interested in bringing Frenkie de Jong to the club while they are also among the sides hoping to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
But with United looking to comply with Uefa’s financial sustainability requirements, they will likely have to raise funds through selling members of their current squad to back their plans.
Club captain Harry Maguire is among those whose long-term future is uncertain.
West Ham United have already seen a loan approach for the centre-half rejected this month with interest from Inter Milan also likely to be turned away.
But with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane the manager’s first-choice pairing, with Luke Shaw also preferred at the heart of defence over the last month, Maguire could push for a move at the end of the season.
Scott McTominay meanwhile is reportedly concerned over his lack of game time at Old Trafford with Newcastle United firm admirers of the Scotland international.
The 26-year-old is understood to be open to a move to St James’ Park. Â
