is returning to early due to the ankle injury he suffered with Norway.

Haaland came off the bench at half time in Norway’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday evening .

Norway are due to play Scotland in their final qualifier on Sunday evening but Haaland has now been ruled out of the match.

‘The injury is not serious, but he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early,’ Norway’s team doctor Ola Sand said on Saturday.

Norway head coach Stale Solbakken said: ‘It is of course a shame that Erling will not be ready for the match on Sunday, but we will not be bringing in a replacement. This is a great opportunity for the offensive players in the squad to show off.’
