Liverpool failed in a move for Andre Trindade over the , but Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt says they may have better luck in January.

It has been a summer of change in the Reds midfield, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho moving to Saudi Arabia, while James Milner, and Naby Keita all departed on free transfers.

Alex Mac Allister, and Wataru Endo have arrived, while Liverpool were also linked with the likes of , Romeo Lavia and Fluminense star Andre.

The 22-year-old has made a big impression at the Rio club, earning a call-up and first cap for Brazil this year.

However, the Fluminense chief did not rule out a move in January, in fact he said he would be keen to discuss it.

‘Liverpool’s executive director [Billy Hogan] contacted me directly,’ the president told ESPN. ‘And I replied to him: “My friend, I don’t sell players now and I don’t deliver now”.

‘[I told him]: “If you want to buy him now to take him in January, we can start talking, or if you want to wait until December, we’ll talk in December”.’

Whether Liverpool will be keen to come back in with an approach for Andre is January is yet to be seen and may depend on how Endo settles in after his move from Stuttgart.

The Japan captain was a surprise arrival at Anfield late in the transfer window as the Reds searched for a new defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho.

The 30-year-old has already made three Premier League appearances and started in the win over Newcastle and he begins to adapt to English football for the first time in his career.
