Former midfielder Aaron Ramsey has terminated his contract with Juventus, a year before the deal was due to expire.

The 31-year-old joined Juve from the Gunners in 2019 on a free transfer and won the Serie A title in his first season, making 24 league appearances in the process.

He was also involved regularly in his second campaign, making 30 appearances across all competitions, although was never a fixture in the starting line-up.

Last season he played just five times for the Old Lady and moved to Rangers on loan, where he made 13 appearances for the Scottish side, scoring two goals.

However, even in Glasgow he was not always a guaranteed started and his spell with the club ended in disappointment as he missed the crucial penalty in the shootout defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the final of the Europa League.

The shortest of statements from confirmed that he would be leaving the club this summer, reading: ‘The termination of the contract that bound Aaron Ramsey to Juventus is official.’

The Welshman’s next step is not clear yet, but he has been heavily linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

The Championship play-off winners have been investing heavily this summer as they prepare for a crack at the top flight and want to add Ramsey to their long list of signings.

Most notably they have snapped up Jesse Lingard on a free transfer after he left Manchester United, but they have made 10 other first team signings as they splash the cash after promotion.
