Former boss has hinted he would like to return to club management but said it must be a project that is ‘an adventure’.
Solskjaer has not been seen in the dugout since he was sacked by United in November 2021 after a sluggish start to the season.
The Norwegian had initially found success at Old Trafford, guiding them to third and second-place finishes in his two full seasons at the club.
However, after overseeing five defeats in seven games, he was relieved of his duties following a 4-1 defeat against .
Now, two years on, the 50-year-old said he feels the urge to return to management and would like to take on a club job rather than a national team post.
‘I’ve got at least one club job in me. It has to be an interesting one, somewhere, an adventure, somewhere I can be myself,’ the former United striker said, speaking at an event in New Dehli.
‘No disrespect but after you’ve managed Manchester United for three years it’s like where do you go? I want to feel that pressure again. When you see the games, you miss it.’
Prior to his spell at United, Solskjaer had two spells at Norwegian side Molde as well as an unsuccessful nine-month stint at Cardiff.
Having moved straight into a coaching role with United’s U-21 set-up after retiring, Solskjaer had, until now, not enjoyed a spell away from the game since the start of his playing days.
Although he described managing United as ‘the best job in the world’, Solskjaer was also frank about the toll it took on him, something which prompted his break from management after departing the club in 2021.
‘You always want to manage against the best football people in the world. The Premier League is the best league in the world, the most difficult,’ he added.
‘I had been there for three years. Yes, it was a hard job. It’s an extraordinary job, but you’re the face of the biggest and best club in the world.
‘You have to be ready all the time to be scrutinised. So, I enjoyed it but I needed a break after I stepped away.’
