Frank Lampard bringing three former Chelsea coaches back for his interim stint

is set to return to as interim manager for the rest of the season and he is bringing some familiar faces back to west with him.

After ’s dismissal at the weekend the Blues have not been able to secure an immediate permanent replacement and have called upon the club legend, and former boss, to take charge for the rest of the campaign.

Things may have been going badly for Chelsea but there are a lot of big games still to play, not least a Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid and the club feel Lampard is the man to help steer them through this period.

report that Lampard will bring another club legend back with him in the form of Ashley Cole, while Joe Edwards and Chris Jones will also come back to the club.

Both Edwards and Jones left Chelsea to work with Lampard when he was appointed Everton manager and will continue to work with him back with the Blues.

Cole also spent time with Lampard at Goodison Park while the former full-back has also been coaching in the national team set-up with England Under-21s.

Lampard’s previous spell as Chelsea manager ran from July 2019 to January 2021 and saw him win 44 of his 84 matches in charge before being replaced with Thomas Tuchel.

His one full season in charge, which came under a transfer embargo, saw the Blues finish fourth and reach the FA Cup final, but after a disappointing run in his second season he was dismissed.

The 44-year-old is still loved by the Stamford Bridge fans, though, after making 648 appearances for the club, scoring 211 goals.
