is keen on relaunching his managerial career with Glasgow Rangers who have begun their search for a new head coach after parting company with Michael Beale.

The 43-year-old was relieved of his duties as Rangers boss late on Sunday evening following a dismal start to the season.

Three defeats in seven Premiership matches left them third in the league – behind St Mirren – and seven points adrift of city rivals Celtic before the axe fell on the Englishman.

A 7-3 aggregate defeat by PSV Eindhoven in the play-off round in August also helped heighten the pressure on Beale, whose rebuild has been widely criticised with a raft of new signings failing to have the desired impact.

Lampard, meanwhile, was sacked by Everton earlier this year before he returned to Chelsea on an interim basis for the final 11 games of what was a disastrous campaign for the Premier League giants.

According to , Lampard is interested in the Rangers job but would want assurances about the ailing Scottish club’s plans for the future having walked into toxic situations at Goodison Park and Stamford Bridge.

Appearing on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports earlier this week, Lampard revealed that he feels recharged after his break away from the game and is considering his options.

Lampard said: ‘I think it’s important that you try and find the time out of the game to recharge a bit and enjoy things you don’t get the chance to do when you’re working.

‘There’s a balance of feeling fortunate of working in the Premier League, the expectations are great from the outside, any manager puts an expectation on themselves.

‘It’s not always easy because you want to be the best you can be but when you’re out of a job that’s your time to come away, take some perspective and realise family is the real positive of that side.’

AZ Alkmaar coach Pascal Jansen is another name in the frame along with Philippe Clement, who most recently coached Monaco before being sacked in June.

Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat, who is currently in charge of Japanese club Yokohama F Marinos, has also been linked with the succeeding Beale.
