Fred has now racked up over 100 Premier League appearances for and when asked for the standout match he went for a 1-0 home win over .

The Brazilian joined from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 and it has not been a great time for the Red Devils since then, with Fred not adding a single winner’s medal to his collection.

It is probably illustrative of the time United have had in the Premier League over the last four years that Fred’s standout game is a narrow win over the Eagles, although the reason for the pick is that he did score a memorable winner in the contest.

Not known for his goal-scoring, the midfielder curled in an effort into the top corer from just outside the penalty box. The strike came 77 minutes into the contest and secured the three points for his side.

That was enough for the match to be Fred’s favourite memory of the 100 Premier League games he has played, although a win over Manchester City also occurred to him.

Asked for his standout league game by , he said: ‘That’s tough, as it’s difficult to choose a specific game from the one hundred I played in. I think a special game was this season against Crystal Palace, when we won 1-0.

‘It was a great atmosphere, we won and I scored the winner. I think it was a standout game. I also remember the derbies, beating City 2-1 away was a great game. There are a lot of historical games to remember, and it’s really important for my career to have reached 100 games.’

Fred’s four Premier League goals so far this season is already comfortably his best return, having never produced more than one before.

The cracking hit against the Eagles is also his favourite of his small collection of league goals in England, but another against Leeds this campaign also got a nod.

‘Crystal Palace, as I said before, and a great goal against Leeds as well,’ he said of his favourite league goals. ‘We won 4-2 away and it was an important goal to change the game.

‘I think when the goal is important, changing the game and result, it makes it more satisfying. I think they were my two most important goals this season.’
