Gabby Agbonlahor believes Arsenal should think again about signing ’s .
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in the summer as they look to replace , who left the club to join in January.
However, former Aston Villa forward Agbonlahor thinks Calvert-Lewin doesn’t fit Arsenal’s style of play and that manager Mikel Arteta should look elsewhere for a striker.
Speaking on , he said: ‘Someone asked me last week on the show, should Arsenal go in for him (Calvert-Lewin) – no!
‘He can’t create his own goals, he doesn’t make his own goals. He has to lay it off, then get in the box and then the cross to come in perfect for him to get a goal.
‘He’s not going to get the ball into his feet, turn and then score. That’s not him. So, for me, he wouldn’t suit Arsenal.’
Everton may sell Calvert-Lewin in the summer due to financial difficulties and the Englishman has been linked with a number of other clubs including West Ham and Newcastle United.
Arsenal’s need for a new striker is particularly great considering both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts are running out at the end of the season.
Earlier this year, Arteta outlined the attributes he will be looking for when searching for a new centre-forward.
‘He puts the ball in the net, that’s priority number one,’ Arteta said. ‘Goal threat.
‘Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing. You can play good football but you need enough goal threat in the team.
‘The other thing is that he has to complement the other people we have, personally and on the pitch, and for that, we need the right profile.
‘We need a profile where you can exploit his qualities at the same time as the qualities we already have, so we don’t have to transform our way of playing again to adapt to that specific player.
‘He has to have a certain age, a certain level of experience, and he has to be able to come here and play under the pressure of being at Arsenal.’
The Gunners, who currently sit fifth in the Premier League, are aiming to qualify for the Champions League next season which would make them a much more attractive prospect for incoming strikers.
