should move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson and bring him in as ’s replacement, believes former Spurs hitman .
The 18-year-old had to settle for a place on the bench in Brighton’s opening game of the season against Luton at the Amex on Saturday afternoon.
However, he came off the bench in the 78th minute and still managed to get on the scoresheet as the Seagulls recorded an impressive 4-1 win.
The teenager is being slowly developed at Brighton, now making 30 first team appearances, but he has already scored 11 goals for Brighton, seven of which have come in the Premier League.
Ferguson has also netted twice for Ireland in just six appearances and the striker is winning a lot of admirers thanks to his performances.
Lineker is amongst them and reckons Tottenham should be looking at the Irishman as a possible replacement for Kane who has moved to Bayern Munich this summer.
The England legend tweeted on Saturday: ‘Evan Ferguson scores in Fergie time. He’s a born goal-scorer. If I was in charge of recruitment at @SpursOfficial, I’d take a punt on him as Kane’s replacement. Apologies to @OfficialBHAFC fans.’
Roberto De Zerbi fielded Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck up front against Luton, with Pedro scoring on his debut, while Solly March and Simon Adingra also found the back of the net, with Adingra coming off the bench to score as Ferguson did.
On his range of options, De Zerbi said: ‘We have a lot of good players and they need to keep pushing so that they are ready to play. I want us to push to score more goals but I am happy that we have started the season with three points.’
