Former captain Gary Neville believes that interim-manager is ready to rip into his players following their dismal display against Liverpool.

United played Liverpool on Tuesday night and endured an awful first-half, conceding two goals to Luis Diaz and and producing very little to nothing in return.

Speaking at half-time on , Neville, who had heavily criticised the players’ lacklustre performance already, said: ‘He’s [Rangnick] ready to go, it’s only his class and professionalism stopping him telling us what he really thinks of these players.

‘Arsenal away Saturday, Chelsea next Thursday, I can’t think he’s going to keep on watching this and not go for them.

‘He’s alluded to it in certain interviews, but it really is a lull it really is because there was nothing in that first half.

‘No shots, No goals, no expected goals. Everything that he wouldn’t want.

‘It was always going to be difficult to come to Anfield against this Liverpool team but when they get back in their shape, they’re so passive it’s incredible.’

Manchester United went onto lose the game 4-0 with goals from Sadio Mane and Salah in the second-half adding to the rout.

It is the second time this campaign United have been humiliated by Liverpool after the 5-0 loss at Old Trafford earlier this season.

The Red Devils are now sixth in the table, three points off the top four and the much coveted Champions League qualification spot.

Liverpool meanwhile have gone top, a point ahead of Manchester City having played a game more, with their hopes of an unprecedented quadruple still alive.
