has insisted he will be spurred on to win the Premier League Golden Boot next season by the signings of and .

Liverpool have agreed an initial £64million deal with Benfica for striker Nunez, who scored 32 goals last season, after champions completed the £52.1m transfer of Borussia Dortmund’s Haaland – the most sought-after goalscorer in Europe.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Kane’s Tottenham team-mate Heung-min Son shared the Golden Boot with 23 league goals but the three-time winner is ready for the challenge from Nunez and Haaland.

He said: ‘The battle for the Golden Boot’s always tough, the league has produced top strikers from around the world for a number of years.

‘Every season I’ve been playing it’s always been a tough battle and you expect the top strikers to want to play in the Premier League and it shows with those signings that’s going to be the case.

‘It helps me as a player to have good competition and hopefully to improve and get better, so for sure I look forward to the challenge.’

Nunez – who is set to have a medical – could eventually cost the Reds £85.5m with add-ons and the Anfield club are finalising a six-year contract for the Uruguayan, paving the way for Sadio Mane to join Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have already rejected two offers for the 30-year-old from the Bundesliga champions and are holding out for a fee of £40m.

Haaland, meanwhile, scored 86 goals in 89 appearances in Germany before moving to England and, asked if he would try to emulate the Norwegian’s numbers, Kane replied: ‘I try to focus on myself to begin with.

‘Going into any season, I have things I want to achieve and goals I want to reach and I try not to focus on other players too much in that aspect and things I can’t control what they do. But what I will do is continue to work hard and try to improve.’
