‘He has the profile’ – Brad Friedel gives his verdict on Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool target Jhon Duran

MLS starlet Jhon Duran ‘has all the attributes to succeed’, according to Premier League legend Brad Friedel with , and Liverpool all tracking the young forward.

Reports last month claimed Liverpool are chasing a deal for the Colombian star, who has broken into the senior national side after an impressive year with Chicago Fire in the MLS.

Chelsea have also been credited with interest having done business with the Chicago club already this year, signing goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina in the summer for £10million.

United are also said to have entered the fray with Erik ten Hag reportedly a firm admirer.

Duran’s agent and family members are said to have travelled to England in recent weeks to hold talks with interested clubs.

And while the 18-year-old has ‘quite a bit to learn’, Friedel believes he has the attributes and ‘profile for Premier League football.’

‘He’s young but he has all the attributes to succeed,’ Friedel told Metro.co.uk on behalf of .

‘He’s powerful, fast, can hold the ball up and has an eye for a goal. He would have quite a bit to learn of course but he has the profile for Premier League football.

‘He plays in a nation where their top players will play for big clubs and he’s in the squad for Colombia. So, I could see that happening, I can see teams being interested in him.

‘I’m not sure if you’d have to purchase him and have him do a season or two on loan somewhere which might be the case. But he has something in his repertoire for sure.’

Duran began his career in his homeland with Envigado FC, whose previous graduates including James Rodriguez, Fredy Guarin and Juan Fernando Quintero.

In 2019, he became the second-youngest goal scorer in Colombian top-flight history, at just 15 years and 263 days old.

In January 2022, he made the move to the MLS, signing for Chicago Fire, scoring eight times in his first season with the club.
