Diogo Jota believes Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham has the potential to be one of the greatest players in the world.
Bellingham, 18, has emerged as arguably football’s best teenager over the past two seasons after moving from Birmingham City to Borussia Dortmund.
The midfielder won the DFB-Pokal Cup in 2021, was part of the England squad that finished runner-up at last summer’s Euros and is already a regular for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
His impressive performances in Germany have seen him linked with a big money return to England, with Liverpool, , and all said to be interested in acquiring his services.
If he did end up moving to Anfield, he would certainly be a welcome sight, with Reds forward Jota the latest player to sing Bellingham’s praises.
Speaking to Playstation’s NextGen Icons, the Portuguese player discussed who he thought some of the best young players in the world were and said: ‘I’d have Bellingham.
‘He is such a good player. I think he will be one of the greatest players in the future.’
Jota is not the first member of the Liverpool squad to highlight Bellingham’s talent, with club captain and England teammate Jordan Henderson also a fan.
Last month, the midfielder told Sport Bible: ‘I don’t like speaking too highly of players, especially when they’re such a young age because everybody else seems to do that pretty quickly. But I’ve been very impressed.
‘I like the way he plays. I like his personality, which is the most important thing. I like the way he conducts himself.
‘He’s a great lad, a fantastic player and I’m sure he’ll go from strength to strength as he gets older and matures. When I watch him, he plays with such maturity even now.
‘I’ve got nothing but good things to say about him. The sky is the limit for him really.’
Whether Liverpool will make a move for Bellingham in the summer is unclear however, given how much the youngster will likely cost.
Jurgen Klopp’s side is also already stacked with excellent midfield options including Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago and Naby Keita.
