Hector Bellerin is prepared to give up the salary for the final year of his contract at so he can push through a permanent switch to Real Betis.

The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at the Spanish side after falling out-of-favour at the Emirates and deciding on a fresh start.

In Seville, he made 23 appearances in La Liga and was part of the Betis side which won the Copa del Rey.

This summer, the defender is due to return to the Gunners but, according to , he would prefer to remain in Spain.

The report goes on to say that Arsenal want a fee of over £8million for Bellerin but that the Spaniard would rip up his £100,000-a-week contract in order to secure a move.

In recent years, the north London club have agreed similar deals, most notably with Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Calum Chambers.

Getting Bellerin’s wages off the club’s books may appeal to Mikel Arteta with his squad already well stocked at right-back in the form of Cedric Soares and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

However, Arteta has warned he will need to manage the club’s resources this summer despite being linked with the likes of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.

He said: ‘We are going to have certain resources, not unlimited resources, some resources.

‘And with our resources we have to play and do what we have to do in the best possible way.

‘We don’t know what the rest are going to have in terms of resources, which I’m assuming is going to be challenging because now it’s not a top three or top four league.

‘Now it is a top eight or 10 teams that are involved. That’s why we have to find a way to do again what we did last summer.’
