are the undisputed Kings of Europe, with the famous Spanish giants steeped in European pedigree.
Their quest to add yet another title to their trophy cabinet continues this season against , with the two clubs set to battle it out in their .
But exactly how many times have Real Madrid won the Champions League in their long and illustrious history?
Let’s open their trophy cabinet and take a peek.
How many Champions League titles has Real Madrid won?
Real Madrid have won the European Cup 14 times in their history.
This makes them the most successful team ever in the Champions League, ahead of AC Milan on seven and Liverpool and Bayern Munich on six.
Their first victory in the European Cup came in 1955/56, making them the first ever club to win the competition after it was founded in 1955.
Madrid dominated the early years of the new tournament, winning the first five editions up until the 1959/60 season, with another title collected in 1965/66.
However, they then had to wait an incredible 32 years to get their hands on their seventh title, with their triumph in 1997/98 also the first time they had won the European Cup since it was rebranded as the Champions League in 1992.
Two more titles were added to their trophy cabinet at the start of the new millennium to leave them just one win away from their landmark tenth victory.
But Los Blancos then endured another baron spell, with the 2000s and the start of the 2010s dominated by other clubs – including El Clasico rivals Barcelona who swept up three Champions League trophies in the meantime.
finally delivered their tenth title in the competition, dubbed La Decima, with a dramatic extra-time win over city rivals Atletico in 2013/14.
This kickstarted another period of dominance, with leading them to three Champions Leagues titles in a row between 2015/16 and 2017/18.
Real Madrid’s most recent win was against Liverpool in 2021/22, with Ancelotti masterminding the triumph in Paris to claim his second title at the club.
As well as their 14 titles, Madrid have also reached three other finals, losing to Benfica (1961/62), Inter Milan (1963/64) and Liverpool (1980/81).
Madrid have a genuine version of the Champions League trophy courtesy of an old rule which allowed clubs to keep the trophy if they won it five times in total or three times in a row.
The rule was abolished in 2009 meaning that clubs now receive a replica of the trophy, whilst UEFA retain the original.
