Armando Broja has signed a new six-year deal with which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2028.

It was that Blues owner Todd Boehly was keen to tie many of the club’s best young players down on new long-term contracts, including Broja, and Reece James.

The 20-year-old impressed last season on loan at Southampton, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, and earning favourable comparisons to former Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

As a result, elected not to sell or loan the player for this campaign, despite heavy interest from the likes of , Everton, and Newcastle.

He has so far made three appearances this season, all from the bench, as he eases into the first team, but he does now face competition from deadline day signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

‘I’m lost for words really just thinking about it,’ the Albanian international said upon extending his contract.

‘It’s the club I’ve dreamed of playing for my whole life, the club that I support and the club that I love. I’ve been here since I was a boy so it’s a surreal feeling for me and my family.

‘To be able to put on the blue shirt with the first team is a dream come true. It’s amazing every minute that you get to play on the pitch because this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

‘There’s always competition and everyone wants to play so I’m just happy that I have the opportunity to be a part of it. Hopefully I get to play a lot of matches and be a part of the team’s success.’

Broja came through Chelsea’s academy, making his senior debut in 2020, and already had a contract that ran until 2026.

Boehly added his joy at the new deal, saying: ‘We are delighted Armando has committed to Chelsea. He is a young and exciting striker and a big part of our plans moving forward.’

Chelsea’s next game is on Saturday at home to West Ham, with Tuchel’s side aiming to get back on track after a disappointing start the season that has left them 10th in the table.
