Former midfielder Craig Burley has slammed over the comments he made following the club’s 4-0 defeat to in a pre-season friendly.

Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga all scored in a comprehensive win for the Gunners in Orlando on Sunday.

Following the defeat, a clearly agitated Tuchel questioned the commitment of his players, implored the club to secure more new signings and said his side may not be ready for their Premier League opener against Everton on August 6.

‘I am far from relaxed,’ Tuchel said. ‘We were simply not good enough. We were simply not competitive.

‘The worrying part is that the level of commitment physically and mentally for this match was far higher for Arsenal than for us.

‘They played I think what is their strongest line-up and structure that you see now for several weeks. This was the line-up they will try to start for Premier League games.

‘It was surely not our strongest line-up. This is a part of an explanation but only a little part and the other part is worrying. I cannot guarantee we will be ready in two weeks.’

Ex-Chelsea star Burley has taken aim at Tuchel over his post-match rant, insisting he has a ‘problem’ with the manager’s attitude.

He told : ‘I have a problem with this guy at the moment. Managers will look to make excuses, there’s always a way to try and get out.

‘I’m sorry, there’s not ten players trying to leave Chelsea. Timo Werner’s name has been mentioned, so has Azpilicueta’s. I know he’s lost some players, they’ve brought some in, they might bring some more in. But I’ve got a problem with that attitude.

‘When asked if they’ll be ready for the start of the season, it’s his job and his coaching staff and his sports scientists and all the people behind the scenes to have these players ready. It’s his job to have them prepared and up for it.

‘I’m sorry but as the old saying goes, the buck stops with the manager. Don’t tell Chelsea fans they might not be ready for the start of this season, tell me whose job it is. It’s his job.’

Chelsea have signed England forward Raheem Sterling and Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, while they are still pursuing a deal for French centre-back Jules Kounde.
