Jeff Stelling has revealed that he will be staying on as Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday presenter in a late U-turn.
The 67-year-old surprised fans of the show in October .
Stelling, who has hosted Sky Sports’ iconic live show since 1994, claimed it was his own decision to walk away.
But the presenter has now said he will remain in the Soccer Saturday hotseat.
‘ is my home, and the Soccer Saturday team are a big part of my life,’ said Stelling.
‘As the end of the season approached, and I was preparing to say goodbye, I realised that I was not ready to blow the final whistle and leave the best job in the world.
‘I am thrilled to be staying, and excited about moving the show forward and creating more special Saturday afternoons on Sky Sports.’
When announcing his decision to walk away in October, Stelling said: ‘I’ve hosted Soccer Saturday for the past 25 or so [years], I’m not so clever with statistics. But I’ve come to the decision, an incredibly difficult decision, that this will be my final season.
‘It’s been my decision, there’s been no pressure whatsoever, Sky have been absolutely brilliant with me as they always have done.
‘I’m not intending to retire, that’s up to people out there really but it’s time to let somebody else have a go at what is the best job in the world.
‘I thought I wouldn’t get to a stage where I’m calling Raith Rovers, Roath Ravers, wouldn’t want that happening at all.
‘I’m going to be here until May and then leaving the show and the company.’
