has admitted he ‘hasn’t thought about’ his long-term future with yet, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Italian international made a surprise deadline day move from to Arsenal for £12million back in January, signing a contract until June 2024 with an option for a further year.

His arrival was viewed as a short-term solution after failed to buy one of his top defensive midfield targets that transfer window, but with Declan Rice having since been signed, many have questioned how long he’ll stay in north London.

Both Rice and Thomas Partey are ahead in the pecking order, though Jorginho has still made nine appearances so far this season, even captaining his side in their Carabao Cup win over Brentford.

But only three of these appearances have been starts, and though Arteta has consistently cited the importance of the 31-year-old’s experience and leadership skills, he could be inclined to seek more regular game time in the future.

That idea hasn’t crossed Jorginho’s mind yet however, with the player revealing as much in his pre-match press conference ahead of on Tuesday night.

‘No I haven’t had any conversations [about a new contract] to be honest,’ he said.

‘All I can say is that I feel really good here. I’m really happy at Arsenal.

I haven’t thought about it to be honest with you. I’ve only been thinking about tomorrow!’

Jorginho won the Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea and his experience will be needed in Arsenal’s young team that have scarcely played in Europe’s top competition.

The Gunners have so far beaten PSV and lost to Lens and now face their toughest test on paper with a trip to the Europa League champions.

Jorginho added: ‘I think we have so much potential. Of course it’s a young team. It’s a competition that’s going to make all the players grow.

‘We need to take it step by step and enjoy the moment. We need to leave a little bit of a question to focus on the next question and focus on the next game tomorrow.’
