Juan Mata thinks the future looks bright for under incoming manager Erik ten Hag.

Last week, the Red Devils announced the appointment of Ten Hag on an initial three-year deal.

The 52-year-old will see out the current season with current club before taking over at Old Trafford in the summer.

United have endured a frustrating season, finding themselves in sixth place in the table with three games to go.

But Mata believes an ‘exciting future’ awaits the club ahead of Ten Hag’s imminent arrival.

‘I understand the fans’ frustration after this season because I would also be frustrated too,’ Mata told United .

‘But I also think there is an exciting future ahead, with a new era, with a new manager.

‘Hopefully it is going to be a big change in terms of results and fans will be happy.’

‘Every single game that you play for this club you can play better or worse, you can have better or worse results but as a fan the thing I would like to see is players giving everything and fighting together and representing the club the best we can,’ Mata added.

‘That’s what we have to do unfortunately in the next [three] games because there are no more.

‘Like I say, it is a question of pride and giving to the club what it deserves from us.’

A number of players are facing uncertain futures at the club, including Mata, whose contract at United is due to expire in the summer.
