Getafa manager Jose Bordalas says the club signed forward after advised him to move to .
Greenwood completed a season-long loan deal to Getafe on deadline day at the start of September.
It came after Manchester United confirmed Greenwood would not play for the club again, following an inquiry into his off-field conduct.
United are paying the majority of Greenwood’s wages and offers were in short supply for the forward, with suitors worried about a potential backlash.
But Greenwood also need to make a decision on where he felt was a suitable environment for himself and his young family.
And Getafe’s manager said he was convinced over a move to Spain by Bellingham, who made the move himself in June.
‘Mason Greenwood is friends with Jude Bellingham, and he advised him to come to La Liga,’ said Bordalas.
Greenwood could make his club debut on Sunday when Getafe host Osasuna.
Osasuna were another club interested in the forward, but they decided against a move.
Greenwood hasn’t played a professional match in nearly 18 months.
