The brother of Arsenal transfer target Jurrien Timber has confirmed he is unsure of the defender’s future.

The Gunners have already seen their opening bid for the 22-year-old rejected but are confident of completing the signing of the Netherlands international quickly.

Personal terms are already understood to have been agreed and Timber is reported to be keen on a move to north , despite having registered interest.

have also held a long-standing interest in a player capable of playing at both centre-half and right-back, but Arsenal stole a march on their rivals by holding ‘secret talks’ with the player and his agent prior to the recent FA Cup final.

After captaining the Netherlands’ Under-21 side to a 0-0 draw against Belgium in their European Championship opener, Quinten was asked about Jurrien’s future.

Speaking to Dutch news outlet , he was asked whether Arsenal’s interest in his brother is correct, where he is alleged to have said yes.

He then added of Arsenal’s opening proposal: ‘I don’t know if there was an offer.’

And Quentin then conceded that he is unsure whether Jurrien will be playing in the Eredivisie next campaign, as he stated: ‘I don’t know.’

Ben White made the right-back position his own last season but the Gunners ended the campaign with Thomas Partey in that role following injuries to Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba.

Both players are hopeful of returning in time for the stat of the season but with Cedric Soares and Rob Holding likely to depart, Arteta wants more options in that area of the pitch.

Timber’s ability on the ball and passing range makes him an ideal candidate for Arteta’s progressive side and the Arsenal manager has been keen to add another full-back to his squad with similar qualities to those of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Gunners, meanwhile, remain confident of also completing the signings of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice despite having seen several bids for both players rejected by both Chelsea and West Ham.
