Former striker Kevin Campbell believes Roberto Firmino is set for a Liverpool exit this summer after seven years at the club.

Firmino, 30, has fallen out of favour at Anfield after losing his starting place to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the last year.

Having been a mainstay in ’s side since 2015, the Brazilian has made only 18 appearances in the Premier League this season – only nine of which were starts – and his contract runs out next summer.

Campbell believes Liverpool may decide to cash in on Firmino at the end of the season and save money for and ’s new contracts which also both expire in 2023.

Speaking to , he said: ‘I’ll be honest, I think Firmino will go even though I would like to see him stay. He is good enough to be a starter at another big club though.

‘Liverpool will shuffle their pack this summer. I really think they will. Mane and Salah also need new contracts. It is very difficult to sign them all on the kind of wages they will want.

‘It will be very interesting to see who signs and who doesn’t. I don’t think Firmino is the priority though.’

Liverpool supporters would certainly be disappointed to see Firmino leave, however, with the Brazilian having become a fan favourite since moving to Merseyside from Hoffenheim in 2015.

Though signed as a striker, much of Firmino’s time with the Reds has been spent supplying others, most notably Mane and Salah, playing more like a false nine than an out-and-out centre-forward.

Firmino’s most prolific season in front of goal was in 2018 when he scored 15 league goals and 27 in all competitions.

During his time at the club, he has won the Premier League, the Champions League and a League Cup.

In recent months, Firmino has become fifth choice in the pecking order behind Mane, Salah, Jota and Diaz.

Speaking last month former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips agreed with Campbell that Firmino is likely to leave in the summer.

He said: ‘Will Liverpool offer him a new deal? Will he still be there in two years time? Personally, I don’t think he will.

‘I think he will want to move on and try something different.’
