Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio is expected to leave the club this summer with Liverpool, Arsenal and fighting for his signature.

The 21-year-old, regarded as one of the most promising young centre-halves in European football, has a release clause of €45million (£40m) and while Sporting are eager to tie him down to a new contract, a summer move is on the cards, according to .

Three clubs are thought to be at the top of the queue for his services with Liverpool eager to follow up on initial interest shown last summer.

The report suggests he is viewed as an ideal defensive partner for at the back.

Arsenal are also credited with serious interest.

but Mikel Arteta is reportedly planning to use the Dutchman as an inverted right-back, rather than at centre-half where he has shone for Ajax.

With William Saliba’s absence causing problems at the back during last season’s run-in, another option at centre-half could be on option being considered at the Emirates.

Newcastle are also keen on the Sporting star. The Magpies are keen to bring in another option at the back ahead of their return to the Champions League with Inacio on their list of options.

Any club wishing to price Inacio from Sporting will have to pay his entire release clause up front.

Liverpool have already wrapped up their first piece of summer business, bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton in a deal that could rise to £55m.

Arsenal are expected to announce the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea this week while the club are still confident of bringing Declan Rice to the club ahead of Manchester City.

Newcastle meanwhile are edging close to wrapping up a £60m deal for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali.
