Anfield hero Didi Hamann has criticised for tweeting about Liverpool’s final opponents after they knocked out .

In a repeat of the 2018 showpiece event, Liverpool will face Real Madrid in this season’s Champions League final.

But Hamann – who helped Liverpool win the Champions League in 2005 – wishes Salah kept quiet until after the final and says he ‘hopes’ the Egyptian can maintain his composure when he faces Real Madrid again.

‘I saw the tweet and I’m not a big fan of it, I’ve got to say,’ Hamann told .

‘What happened was unfortunate, I’m not sure it was Ramos’ intention to injure him. Obviously he pulled him down, it was unfortunate he had to come off.

‘But as we know it took one or two goalkeeping mistakes [from Liverpool’s Loris Karius] to swing the game into Real Madrid’s favour.

‘I always prefer when players keep quiet, they can talk after the game. But I understand where he’s coming from. He said before the game he would rather play Madrid, he’s got that now so let’s hope he has a cool head.’

Before Real Madrid’s comeback win, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp – who – said the Champions League final would be ‘massive’ whoever his side play.

‘Yes I will watch it [the other semi-final],’ the German said after Liverpool’s victory over Villarreal. ‘Whoever it will be it will be massive. Whoever wins tomorrow will enjoy it and then face each other in Paris.’

Manchester City lead Liverpool by just one point in the Premier League title race with four games remaining. City face Newcastle United on Sunday while Liverpool host Tottenham the day before.
