are turning their attention to Fluminense midfielder Andre as they .
The midfield rebuild at Anfield is still ongoing, as the Reds look to replace the , most crucially Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
They have seen two bids rejected by Southampton for Lavia, with the Saints wanting £50m for the teenager and Liverpool not reaching that mark with either offer.
The Reds have other targets on their list and Andre is one of them, with reporting that Liverpool have made contact with the Brazilian club in the hope of signing the 22-year-old for around £21m.
There has been no official bid just yet, but talks have begun and the Brazil international is reportedly keen on the switch to Anfield.
Andre has made over 100 appearance for Fluminense and made his Brazil debut this year in a friendly against Senegal, coming on as a substitute.
He would certainly be a much cheaper option than Lavia, but the Southampton prospect remains Liverpool’s first choice as they look to replace Fabinho in the holding midfield role.
Fabinho and Henderson have , while Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all left at the end of their contracts.
That left a significant hole in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, partially filled by the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but they are determined to make at least one more midfield signing before the start of the Premier League season.
