Liverpool will need to increase their bid for Calvin Ramsay in order to convince Aberdeen to Aberdeen to sell the teenager full-back.

That is according to a report from the , which explains that the Dons are looking for a higher up-front payment than the £4m the Reds have indicated they are willing to agree to so far.

The report adds that the Pittodrie club is demanding £5m outright this summer, with subsequent add-ons to any deal which could reach up to £8.5m.

18-year-old Ramsay made his Scottish Premiership debut in the 2021/21 season, before becoming a first-team regular at the beginning of the last campaign. He has now made a total of 39 senior appearances, including European experience in qualifiers for the UEFA Nations League, scoring one goal.

Liverpool are understood to be in the market for cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, and Ramsay is the player Jurgen Klopp and the club’s recruitment team has identified as its first choice target.

Wales international Neco Williams has served as Alexander-Arnold’s understudy for the past few seasons, but the 21-year-old was sent on loan to Fulham in January, and is set to depart with his stock at its highest this summer having helped his national team qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Reds are undergoing a significant squad renewal this summer, with younger players being brought in to reinvigorate a squad which has seen its average age creep steadily up.

Teenage forward Fabio Carvalho has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Reds already, and will move to Anfield this summer from Fulham after helping Marco Silva’s side secure promotion from the Championship to the Premier League as division champions.

Benfica forward Darwin Nunez, meanwhile, is set to be confirmed as a new Liverpool player imminently after the Reds agreed a deal with the Portuguese club which could eventually rise to £65m.

The Uruguay striker is set to replace Sadio Mane, who is increasingly likely to join Bayern Munich this summer.
